2010/11 PREVIEW
Here we are again, it soon comes around and it's another 9 month battle all the way to the finish to see who will be crowned the king of the www.fishingmatch.net football dream team in its 9th year come June 2011.
Neil Hoops Slaughter will be all out to defend his crushing win from last season where he won by a record margin. Can he follow in the footsteps of his brother Lee, who has notched up 3 titles in the last 6 years? Lee himself has plenty to prove at present but only a fool would write him off.
Two guys in real good form are, Joff Walkey[ latest world cup dream team winner ] and Ricko Barker [ runner up for the last 3 seasons as well as winning it ] and these guys take their dream teams very seriously. Both are hungry to regain the title.
The dark horses of the field are headed by Dennis Mark, who has come into his own in the last 2 years by winning countless other competitions and scored a personal best top 3 finish here last season.
Ray Barlow, Matthew May and Simon Higgins are all knocking on the door for a maiden win and this could be their year.
Interesting outsiders for the title include the likes of Chris Champion, Derek Slaughter, Lee Thomas and Daley Turner, who have all shown good form previously.
Their are too many newcomers to mention but the inclusion of so many carpet representatives is very pleasing to see along with the likes of Gary May, Mike Taylor, The Haley bros and James Turner.
The St Austell William Hill party will be out to spoil the party that's for sure and they could make their presence felt.
Of the complete and utter ragz, it's difficult to see anyone really challenging the main contenders. Perhaps Leigh Farrar or Del Ferguson can put their poor form behind them.
There were a record 43 teams entered last season. This season there are a staggering 59 sides in battle for the number 1 prize with record prize money of just over 2 grand.
Best of luck to all managers. It's wide open and anyone can win.....let's hope it's you!
